Pink Run of 83Neans Oct. 17, 2010

By: Vicboy de Lima

Hi Ghibz and all our running-loving (already & soon to be) classmates,

It is always an enjoyable experience to run with our classmates.

One such running experience is this Pink Run: DFeeting Breast Cancer (Oct 17 at McKinley Hills, Taguig). I share these pics.

Several points that stand out from our running as shown by these pics:
1. Every time we join a fun run, palaging meron kakilala si Fards. Kadalasan ito ay mga military officers. It goes to show us that our Philippine military is dedicated to being physically fit 24/7 via running.

2. Running is a great way for father and son to bond. Kasama namin sa takbo yung oldest son ni Fards. Improving pati. Dat rati, tinatalo namin sa long distance running. Ngayon, linalampaso na kaming mga matatanda. Hahaha.
3. Presently, Bobby is the strongest and fastest runner in our batch. Dapat siguro, dalasan ni Bobby ang pagbigay ng kanyang mga secrets kung bakit mabilis at matibay siya sa pagtakbo.

4. Running is fun. And the fun is doubled when we run for such worthy causes that we truly love. In the case of the Pink Run. this fun run organized by doctors was for the benefit of outreach program for breast cancer patients. We showed that we are breast friends.

A few more points:

1. Ghibz is old school when it comes to running shorts. Hahaha.Short & sexy shorts. Your new running shoes look cool. I guess you have learned an important lesson the painful way but this means you will not forget the lesson - never wear something new for a race. Kailangan break-in muna. Hahahaha.

2. For both Ghibz and Ed, this was their first fun run beyond 10 kms. It was supposed to be 15 kms but actual reading with the gadgets show 12.5 kms. Nevetherless, we are happy to see our fellow batch 83 runners striving for longer distances. In the case of Ed, the fact that he is now taking maintenance medicine for his hypertension, is not stopping him from enjoying running. The advice I always give Ed is not overexert his pace when running.

3. I am happy na nagkasabay sa pagdalagan ang sakuyang mga kaklase sa Ateneo de Naga asin mga kaopisina sa First Balfour. Our lady runners in First Balfour are training to run their first-ever half marathon this coming Nov 20 at the Run United fun run (of Unilab and Runrio). Most of our lady runners are already aged beyond 40 years old and yet they gamely prepare and participate in these runs. Perhaps, we can also encourage our spouses and GFs or our friends from CSI 83 to take up running. Age is not an excuse.

Thank you and have a great weekend.

- Vicboy.

P.S. Reminder for our runners in Manila, register already for the Run United fun run this week. Baka maubusan tayo. Also, I have registered already for the Corregidor International Half Marathon (scheduled for Dec 19). Let me know if you are joining too.
